Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
中秋节快乐!
Hello, I hope you are enjoying yourselves! Today is a special day since it is the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important holidays in China. During this time, family and friends get together, attend street festivals, go moon-gazing, and eat moon cakes.
Moon cakes (月饼) are pastries with sweet fillings like red bean or lotus seed. They are typically shared with family members and eaten at moon-gazing parties. Moon cakes are very difficult and time-consuming to make so most people buy them from bakeries or grocery stores. High-end moon cakes can cost upwards of ¥900 for a box of 4. Moon cakes taste amazing, but for those weight-conscious people watch out: one moon cake contains around 1,000 calories!
